Re: Anyone know of any jobs that Cyber / lawenforcement or have met anyone in this field
I would suggest the FBI special agent, they have a need for cyber skills. Finish your degree because you need to have a bachelor's to apply and with your CISSP and you would be golden. Plus you wouldn' take much of hit financially. You start at GS 10 which for Denver with locality pay is 58k plus you get 25% for LEAP pay… -
Re: eLearnSecurity PTPv4 Revealed (Attended webinar)
I have the old PTSv2 & PPT3 versions but my lab time and exam vouchers have expired. Since obtaining my CISSP, my roles have required me to focus on GRC work, but eventually I'll need to focus on the more technical pieces of my organization. Given the training options out there, $249 isn't that much for the depth of this… -

Re: Network Security Engineer cert questions.
I had some talks with the Sr Network engineers here at work and they told me to go ccna:s then to ccnp:s skipping ccnp. One said they went the ccnp to ccnp:s route, but looking back they would of just gone ccnp:s. They also encourage of coarse to go for cissp, as well as GCFW/GSEC/GCIA sans certs. I was looking at doing… -
Re: CCNP vs MCITP
I think new IT techs or those with ver little experience tend to be a jack of all trades. "I'm going to be a Cisco Certified Architect/CISSP/Microsoft Architect/vmWare Design/yadda, yadda." The problem is memory retention and day to day use. And also the little issue of real-world experience. I think you need to figure out… -
Re: Job paying for certifications
My company will pay for anything related to your current position, or a reasonably attainable one within the company... since we're a major global company, that's pretty much anything. If it is required by the company, or the client, then there is no commitment. If it's one that you want to do but isn't required then you… -
Re: CISA Study Materials
Yeah it is definitely a huge relief after waiting 5 weeks to find out. As far as the study materials go I highly recommend the CD-ROM Question DB over the hard copy. I used both but I found the CD-ROM more useful for the simple fact you can randomize and track scores etc. Also with the hard copy you had to use your hand or… -
Re: What certification to go for next?
I've heard people taking the eCPPT as kinda a warm up before studying for the OSCP. Never the other way around. Since you got your OSCP, why not try for the OSCE as your next pentest cert? That one would impress some people. I would be surprised if I ever met someone outside of this forum who has heard of the eCPPT. No one…
