Re: My rant upon finding out about SANS upcharging for additional CISSP content...
Like mentioned and as I am sure you already know, you can self study and pass the CISSP or take a bootcamp that is along the lines of your budget. Nobody knows how you studied for the CISSP exam when you pass it, nobody really cares how you studied for it. So where/if you take a bootcamp means little. You complain about… -
Re: Studying for GCIH
I have passed my GCIA on 2012 mostly using year 2000+ books from Amazon but printed out the latest version of SNORT manual which help me to score quite a few during my GCIA exam. The underlying concept for every topic is always the same, and SANS probably will add a minor module every 4 years which wouldnt hurt the exam… -
Re: What did you give up to get certified?
There are some certs that are out there that just want your money (hint most vendors want your money). But in reality, once your cert expires, you can't get that time back. Just "O I passed yeah!!" which is a great feeling yes. But also, once it expires, you can't get it back. Also, some vendors such as VCP and CEH require… -
Re: 70-415 and 416 exams released today; Sitting the 70-415 on Friday
Comment by tycoonbob · · Home› Certification Preparation› Microsoft› MCSA / MCSE on Windows 2012 GeneralUmm, I really don't know whats next for me...lol. I have 3 of the new MCSEs, plus the MCSA: Server 2012. I am kicking myself for not getting my MCITP: SA or MCITP: EA yet, so I may still give those a go. I have my SCCM 2012 exam passed, as well as some previous MCITPs (Virt Admin, Ent Desktop admin, EDST)...so I have been… -
Re: Advice for a friend of mine - I would like your input
My advice to your friend is not to give up but re-calibrate- this too shall pass! If he wants to continue the same line of work, he should update his resume and blast out to recruiters- he is willing to relocate? His big break may be in a different part of the country. No extra certification is necessary guaranteed to… -
Re: Australia: Can't get out of L1 Helpdesk, guidance needed
This is a list of certifications you've said you're studying for. SSCP CISSP CCNP: R&S CCNP: Security CCNP: Service Provider CCNA: Collaboration CCNA: Wireless MSCA MCSE Blue Coat F5 CEH I suggest you focus on one at a time and actually achieve it. You said a year ago you were confident you were getting your SSCP shortly,… -
Re: ECSA v8 and V9 difference
I have the ECSAv9, along with a long trail of other certs (including OSCP)... I took the ECSAv9 five day course (via online videos) and with a 30-day subscription to EC Council's "iLabs" cyber range. The course consists of about half lecture (done by Erik Reed, LPT Master), and hands-on labs, using iLabs. iLabs is pretty… -
Beginner needs advice
Hi, I am new to computer tech, and I've been told Comptia A+ is the best way to start. I have a few questions though through the research I've been doing on how to get up to ethical hacking. One I know people stress on experience which I'm not sure how to get. (Please advise). Also a lot of people suggest a degree in a… -

New start lol...
Well, needless to say I have an opportunity for a fresh new start in the direction I want to take my career. I have up to a year to "define" what I want to do and the funds to accommodate it. I'm pretty unhappy in the security position I'm in (infosec/compliance) and need to be much more hands on and in the dirt. I started…
