Re: Mike Meyers' Security+ Certification Passport
Ghent, I started with the Security+ Certification Passport, and it was probably my primary 'reading' material, as I actually read the book cover-to-cover. I had other references and actually had taken a college class on computer security, so I felt I was ready... then I took the practice test on here for the first time.… -
Re: What type of job should i be realistically looking for
Since you're working towards more advanced certs, I'd say that two options also available to you might be something like Jr. Systems Administrator or doing a field-tech position where you travel around and work. The first would take a little bit of luck, and the Jr. title has some stigma attached to it, but if you stick… -
Re: Resume Critique & Advice Please
Ok, I have some time now to put in a few lines. Hope I dont come across as too harsh! - Boring. Dont you think it reads like the contents of a book? I'd prefer to see yours like ptilsen's with a brief 2-3 line synopsis of your daily work and then a few bullet points highlighting your projects/achievements. - Club some of… -
Re: I'm 36, no career and need advice
You are definitely NOT too old to get into programming! I'm sorry to hear about your brother, and don't give up on yourself! :D In general, there are two very broad "career paths" in IT one can go down: Operations or Development. You can go the Operations/Systems Administration route-working on servers, infrastructure,… -
Re: RHCT/RHCE Exam CHANGES!!
I would disagree. Comparing the exam blueprints side by side I see 17 subjects/tasks mentioned for the RHCSA that are not mentioned for RHCT (some items listed more than once). Re-read the list. Configuring an HTTP and FTP server, CIFS, ext4, and others are listed as well which were all topics not needed for the RHCT. I… -
Re: Questions about Project Management, etc. Mostly a Rant.
I don't know the market up there, but down here in Texas, at your age and experience level, what you're making would be pretty good....of course it would be much better if you had benefits subsidized by an employer. I know a few good project managers with the PMP certification. The independent ones have no problem keeping… -

Hello, My name is Tessie, and I'm new to this forum. I have questions and I'm open to read any advices you guys can give me, I will really appreciate it. From what I read you all have experience, and I'm so glad I found this forum. I used to be a happy IT analyst from may 2012 to April 2016, unfortunately the Canadian Bank… -
Passed the 2nd Time
Hi Everyone! I passed the exam Oct 5th. However, as indicated above it was the 2nd time. Previously, I took it on August 6th and failed with a score of 682--I was bummed needless to say. The top 3 domains I did poorly in were Security Engineering, Communication and Network Security, and Software Development Security. I… -
