Question on changing roles

I was just wondering how easy/difficult it would be to go from a senor technical support engineer for a nitch product to more of a administrator role. Most positions I see require actual administrative experience in an enterprise environment. My area does not have many junior level administrator roles. Should I be looking for desktop support to get experience in enterprise software/hardware or should I just apply anyway to any administrative job and see if someone would be interested in me?

You can apply anyway, but if your only experience is a niche product support you are going to be going against people with a lot more applicable experience for those admin roles. You are likely to have to take a more lateral movement to get the necessary experience.
