Starting the transition from law back into IT

I previously worked in IT as a desktop engineer and then went to law school. I now work in a law firm as a litigation case handler and I recently decided that I wanted to get back into IT. I applied for a systems administrator role at work which essentially supports the case management software within the law firm. I got offered the position today 
. Pretty happy. I can now gain the much needed experience. I took a bit of a pay cut with this new role, but experience is more valuable to me at the moment.
Thanks for everyone's advice on here! It's been nice to see people successfully changing careers at all stages of life.

I made the same to/from/to transition as you, I was miserable in the legal field after about 3 years. I chased it for the wrong reasons, money. I thankfully was able to make a lateral on salary when leaving. Congrats on the new gig!
