Hello all, Long time lurker here but being one of the first students taking the Software Development degree it was recommended to me to start a thread here. So I just received my transcript evaluation back and here it what it says. There is some discrepancies from the program guide and what it says in the Transcript Evaluation

Total CU: 125
Transfered: 39
CU's Left : 86.00 (including the classes that are in the course guide but not in the eval.)

Notes:
1 - Course is on the Course guide but not on the Transcript Evaluation
2 - Course on the Transcript Evaluation but not in the Course guide
3 - Course says 3 CU in the guide but 4 CU in the Transcript Evaluation, class is transferred in regardless for me anyways.

I figure I would share all this since this is such a new program and I sure people would like to know. So what are my goals? Well if the classes are correct in the course guide, I have 86 CU to complete. I am shooting for a 1-term finish but will be satisfied with a 70 CU finish. I am currently in Afghanistan for the next 3 months so I will be pushing off the cert. exams until I get back in the States and focusing more on the proctored exams.

Hey Alkal1ne, How has the progress of starting this program for you? I've been pushed back a couple times. I got my eval back and looking at 43 CU to finish but was told our group was delayed until Sept. Are you hearing the same?

I'm in the same boat on the 9/1 start date. I think everyone was moved (I actually got halfway through the EWB course before they stopped me with the date change).

That's a bummer. I was told by my enrollment counselor today that the orientation will be (re-)opening up next Friday. Hopefully it'll go smooth after that.

That adds up to a total of 83 CU needed to graduate and 47 transferred in.

Since the 1st, I completed Intro to IT (C182), Project in Web Dev (EUP1) and Web Dev. Fund. (EUC1). I have Database Foundations(C175) scheduled for Sunday to test and then onto Database Applications (C170). So I am sitting at 54 CU completed now and 76 to do. I am trying to complete this degree in 1 term so we will see how this goes.

    Edit:
From my mentor, The only classes I would be able to skip Is the Network and Security - Foundations as the Network+ (CRV1) super seeds the class.

I figured I would update this more often as my inspiration to finish WGU in 1 term was ratbuddy's progress.

I have two more classes to finish to complete my SAP; That is Database Management Foundations (c175) and Database Management Applications (C170). I have C175 scheduled to test on Sunday and last night I turned in the taskstream assignment for C170 last night. The assignment for C170 was extremely confusing and I am totally expecting it to be returned back. Currently sitting at number 78 in the queue. Hopefully I can get more guidance once it is returned as I was lost in it. In between my studying for the C175 test I am working on the taskstream project for Scripting and Programming Applications (C169). I scored 59% (cut off 66%) on the pre-assessment for Scripting and Programming Foundations (C173). I should be able to knock those two classes out in a week as I have a lot of programming experience in Java. My goal is to have all 4 of those classes done by the end of November which would put my Monthly CU completed at 21 if I am successful.

What do you think of the program so far though? Are you doing any type of coding or is it all theory?
  • Alkal1neAlkal1ne Member Posts: 5 ■□□□□□□□□□
I think the program is alright so far. I haven't dug too deep into it yet so that perspective might change later on. Coding wise, no so much so far. Although there are 4 classes in the program that does coding I just haven't started them yet. It is mostly all java though so it is a little disappointing.

    Update for the day:
I have my test for C175 tomorrow. I had my assignment for C170 returned today because I forgot to describe one thing. Fixed it in a couple minutes and submitted it back to task stream. Planning on taking the C170 test next weekend. Those are my last to classes to fulfill my SAP. In between studying today I took the pre -assessment for C169 (Scripting and Programming Applications) and got 76%, 10% above cutoff and I got a 59% on C173 (Scripting and Programming Foundations) 4% below cutoff. I sent an email to my mentor to get those to courses added to my term so I can get the exam scheduled for next weekend as well. I have a lot of Java programming experience so I am not too worried on double scheduling those tests with the database test next weekend. Since I've been bored this weekend, I also completed the Project for C169 already and started to tackle the project in TYP1 as well. I have finished both those so I am also going to ask to have TYP1 added so I can just submit that to task stream to get it knocked out. So my goal for the rest of November would be to finish C170, C175, C169, C173, and TYP1. If I am able to get all those knocked out that would bring me to my first month in WGU with 23 CU completed (47 transferred in).
