Senior API DevOps Engineer Job in Wellington - SEEK

[h=2]What about the role?[/h] API Talent is looking for experienced DevOps engineers who are capable of working directly with clients on customer facing projects to deliver the many benefits of AWS-based cloud solutions.
You will be working in the following areas (and more!):
  • Green field development of Amazon Web Services infrastructure (EC2, VPC, etc), i.e. looking at an existing service or data centre and then architecting a more effective solution in Amazon
  • DevOps: Custom system integration work with frameworks such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and Salt Stack
  • Other cloud computing technologies and platforms around RESTful API integration
  • Opportunity to develop and deploy in-house developed products
What are you responsible for?
  • Providing systems engineering services to a number of different internal and external customers - you will be taking a lead design role within a small group of engineers
  • Delivering customer migrations to the cloud - predominantly Amazon Web Services, including related scripting and systems integration work
  • Developing your skills across our core business lines and mentoring graduate DevOps engineers.
[h=2]What do you need to bring to the table?[/h] Personal Attributes
  • Attitude - if you're not full of energy and enthusiasm, there's no need to apply
  • You have a strong eye for detail, and are persistent (and consistent!) in achieving what you set out to achieve
  • You are highly numerate and analytical, and understand how to optimise numerical problems
  • You have a good business head, you are commercially aware of your impact on the business and you can prioritise accordingly
  • You are customer centric, and realise the value of providing excellent customer services
  • You get cloud computing, and know how it is changing the way that applications, services and business itself is run
Professional Attributes
  • First or upper second class honours degree (BSc/BEng) or Masters equivalent in Informatics, Engineering or Computer Sciences
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent Linux and/or Microsoft system administration skills.
  • Scripting and Automation experience of Operating Systems and Services - Python and Ruby.
  • Internet technologies (mail systems, domain name systems, web services).
  • You prefer a command line to a GUI.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • A strong command of English.
Solid enterprise AWS skills are rare so we are open to candidates who have come from a strong scripting background and infrastructure/network background.
