CCNP Routing and Switching Exams and Training Courses v2.0 Refresh
CCNP Routing and Switching Exams and Training Courses v2.0 Refresh
The exams and training courses have been refreshed to reflect the alignment with changing industry job roles and the addition of new study materials.
Beginning January 30, 2015, 300-101 ROUTE, 300-115 SWITCH and 300-135 TSHOOTexams will be the only exams available for registration.
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching certification validates the ability to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions. The CCNP Routing and Switching certification is appropriate for those with at least one year of networking experience who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Those who achieve CCNP Routing and Switching have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as network engineer, support engineer, systems engineer or network technician. The routing and switching protocol knowledge from this certification will provide a lasting foundation as these skills are equally relevant in the physical networks of today and the virtualized network functions of tomorrow.
Prerequisites
Valid Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching certification or any Cisco CCIEcertification can act as a prerequisite.

A pretty good article describing the new ccnp
Sometimes i feel like its Cisco taking a revenge upon me!
Good luck with your stuides.
You still have 4 months to take current exams and you can mix and match. So, you could for example take ROUTE (current/old exam) and it would still count towards your CCNP even if you don't complete SWITCH and TSHOOT before Jan 29, 2015.

Plus ,if i mix-n-match, again the same thing may happen as with my ccna ... i passed the old 640-822 and then cisco announced new ccna 200-120 ,then this march 2014 they announced that the old ccna is not valid anymore ,so i cant mix-n-match!!
But later i got confirmed that my old icnd1 is still valid!!
FYI, I am not yet a CCNA and i am going to sit my icnd2 next month i.e. 200-101.
So this same confusion may again arise with CCNP old and new versions! Maybe if i clear ccnp route before jan 2015 ,then they might announce the old ccnp route cant be mix matched with new ccnp exams? then what?
Also, can you confirm if i can sit for old ccnp route 642-902 after jan 2015? and after jan 2015 , will i have to combine it with the new ccnp switch or Tshoot?
Unless you pass all three old exams before the deadline, You will need all three new books to fill in the blanks of the updated content. I have passed the old Switch exam and will take the old route in Jan 2015, then I will buy the new books and skim thru on the sections I missed and take the new Tshoot exam. The exams can be mixed with the new material.
The physical books are scheduled for release in November.

Can you please tell me if the new CCNP Route exam is harder than the old Route syllabus? What are the hardest topics in the new syllabus overall for all the 3 papers?
Any comments from others are also welcome.
With Regards
The new ROUTE definitely appears to be a lot harder with a bunch of new material and some CCNA material (PPP, Frame Relay) added in.
New Material --
Cisco Express Forwarding (This is mainly a SWITCH topic, so I don't know why it is covered in ROUTE also)
TCP/IP (ICMP, Fragmentation, TTL, MTU, MSS, Latency, Windowing, UDP, etc...)
PPP (PAP/CHAP Authentication, PPPoE)
Frame Relay (Multipoint, Point-to-Point)
DHCP Server and Relay ("ip helper-address")
Static Routing
VRF Lite (Easy)
RIPv2 (This was on the CCNA when I took it, but has since been removed)
RIPng (I did not see this explicitly listed as a ROUTE topic on the old exam, but it was part of the TSHOOT topology, so it had to have been covered somewhere - ROUTE or TSHOOT)
DMVPN (This is probably the most difficult new topic)
Easy Virtual Networking (I'm not familiar with this, but it seems to be some kind of alternative to VRF Lite)
AAA (Local DB, RADIUS, TACACS+; Only Mentions Knowing What it is/how it works, so you shouldn't have to worry about creating and applying method lists)
ACLs (Standard, Extended, Time Based, IPv6)
Unicast RPF (Easy)
SNMP (Previously an unofficial SWITCH topic; It was covered in the errata for the OCG, but was not on the official exam objectives)
Logging (See SNMP)
NTP
NAT (Static, Dynamic, Overload, NAT64, NPTv6)
Netflow

They have 3 books (ROUTE, SWITCH, and TSHOOT). I bought the new ROUTE and SWITCH books. I'm hoping to pass (scheduled for 1/19) the old ROUTE before the deadline, but if I don't I have the new book to read up on the new topics.
BTW, upon looking at the topics again, it appears DMVPN is listed as "describe" not "configure"...which should make it a LOT less difficult. Understanding how DMVPN works isn't that difficult. That said, the new ROUTE book covers a number of topics which are not listed on the official exam topics like EIGRP Named Mode, OSPF Address-Family, etc...
