Side Jobs

First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong area but I am wondering who here works a side job? Meaning something that you might dabble in like a hobby. Example: A network engineer doing desktop work on the side.
I ask because I have done this type of thing in the past and it was a nice little side hustle.

Tom Servo Member Posts: 104 ■■□□□□□□□□My side 'job'/hobby is expanding my skill set and studying for certs at home. I've never done any paid work on the side, mainly because it would have to be stuff I already know, instead of learning new things. If I were in a situation where I needed the cash I would do it, but I would worry it would limit my free time that could be spent learning for a better paying job in the future.

What I have noticed is that most IT people are not good sales people. I personally have never taken side work for my current career and so I don't imagine I will do it with IT either. I stopped fixing peoples machines years ago because it's not an enjoyable way to spend my time off.

They haven't had anything yet, but figure it couldn't hurt to say sure incase it takes off.WIP:

tkerber Member Posts: 223I teach an A+ / Computer Support class on Sundays for a buddy of mine who has his own technical training school. It keeps me on my feet and is really rewarding. Most of my students come from rough family / backgrounds and are genuinely interested in technology, they just don't have a lot of resources and need a lot of advice. It's a really cool feeling to get when you're teaching someone and you see them take interest and start doing pursuing their interests beyond the class.
I also will take on small side projects for family, friends, or referrals. Whether it be setting up home networks or removing viruses I generally take on most side projects because I enjoy the learning and networking with people.
