I made this post in General Certs, but I didn't see this sub here and I thought it was more appropriate here.
So, I've worked in Forensics/E-Discovery for a little less under a year and realized I wanted to become a Security Analyst. I took a job with a large software company to support a security product that fortune 500 companies use. I have been here for a year and I started interviewing for Security Analyst positions that I thought I may have been under qualified for but I thought I may have had the chance. They had used technologies such as certain SIEMS and IDS/IPS. But I do know the theories and how they work and I do want to work with them.
I did not get the positions (only 2 interviews) so I figured maybe I should get my certs starting with Sec+ and so far I have been studying for it and they've been pretty straight forward, it's been mostly a refresher and a subjects that I actually have never touched up on. It's actually a very useful study/cert.
My favorite part about these certifications is that some parts are refreshers but I am learning some things I have never learned before. So after my Sec+ what should I do? I am out of college for 2 years and over all have about 2 years of some-sort of Security under my belt, that deals with forensics and authentication but I want to move into a Security Analyst role.
Thanks!
