Certification path to Sysadmin/DBA

So, lately I've been plotting how to become a sysadmin with DBA possibilities. Besides reading as many books as possible on SQL coding and database design, I would also attain certifications in SQL Server and/or Oracle.
Possible Path #1
MCSA Windows Server ----> MCSA SQL Server
This would focus on Microsoft technologies and SQL Server. The advantage here is that most businesses use Windows Server, so if I couldn't get a DBA position immediately, I could leverage my Windows Server knowledge to become a Windows sysadmin.
Possible Path #2
Linux+ ----> RHCSA ----> Oracle DBA Certs
Path #2 focuses on Linux and Oracle. Oracle runs mostly on Unix or Linux systems, so the Red Hat certification would be a perfect combination. I've also heard there is more demand for Oracle DBA's and they offer higher salaries.
Do these sound like good ideas? Or am I completely off base for even thinking that I could become a DBA through certs alone?
