Hi all,

I've been buying stuffs off ebay to build my very own ccna lab!!

so far I have two cisco router 2620 and i am trying to connect them using serial cable (using two cable one dte and ther other dce --x.21 db60 cable).

one of the cisco 2620 (router 1) is ok because the serial s0/0 is showing as up and down and its LED light is on

....but, the other 2620 (router 2) it's serial interface s0/0 is showing as down and down and NO LED light (it is off)

router 1 serial interface setting is as follows

clock rate 64000
no shut

router 2 serial interface setting is as follows
no shut

any help is highly appriciated

Plug a cable into a port are use the following command

show controller s 0/0 if its port 0/0 etc..
You should see DTE or DCE, if you have no cable u have a physical prob.
Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$

    i run the command

    r2#show controllers s0/0

and the serial connection is able to detect both end of the cable

when DTE cable is connected it displays:
    DTE V.11 (x.21) clock stopped
    DCE

when i exchange the cale to DCE

    it shows as :

    DCE V.11 (x.21) no clock

when I pull the cable off it shows as

    no cable attached

    but the outout for

    R2#show int s0/0

....always result in down and down

do you think the serial interface (wic-1t) is ok?
