Loosing SDD space quickly

A few days ago, I had a little over 2GB left and now I have a few hundred MB. I'm totally confused but I think that I've figured out that when I use Firefox and I have a bunch of video's loading, it'll just eat up the space on the SDD. The thing is that I have 16GB of Ram and it's not even full. I'm a little confused as to why this is happening. I've cleaned out the SDD, there's not viruses that has been caught and I install my stuff on the 1TB drive that I have. The pagefile isn't enabled on the SSD. I've been thinking about buying a 128SSD just to quickly fix the problem but I don't know if it'll continue or not if I do buy the new SSD (I wanna buy a 240 anyways).
Booya!!

Vask3n Member Posts: 517You can use a program like Windirstat to get a visualization of your hdd usage to more easily see where most of the space is being taken up.

It'll save you a ton of space. -

Or, before you delete anything you can figure out what is taking up the space in the first place....Working on MS-ISA at Western Governor's University -
Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Oh I agree, but everything in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution can go without any problems. It'll definitely free some space up and might explain why he is missing some space in a short space of time.

Windows 7 - Delete Hibernation File (hiberfil.sys) -
swattz101 Member Posts: 12 ■□□□□□□□□□Looks like you have already disabled paging on the SSD, but I wanted to chime in anyway. I had a similar issue and discovered that Win8 had decided to create a 64GB swap file on my SSD. That is 4x my 16GB memory. From looking into it, the swap file is mainly for "hibernating" metro apps. My pageing file
Over this last weekend, I change my paging file on my system SSD from "Windows Managed" to manual and set it to min 16MB, Max 4GB. (much better that 64GB). I also enabled Virtual Memory on my 1TB HD just in case.
Just in case you are using Win8, hiberfil.sys is also used as part of the "Fast Boot" process.
I'm still reading more on how to manage paging and virtual memory with Win8. -
tpatt100 Member Posts: 2,991 ■■■■■■■■■□Hibernating and the page file as mentioned are two places to look. I had 32GB of RAM on one of my PCs and Windows had a pretty big page file plus system restore was taking up some space. The SSD drive was 128 GB so I didn't notice it that much until I installed Titanfall with it's 50 GB install requirement oh boy.....
