Is This A Good Route To Getting My foot In The Door?

East Carolina University has this Information and Computer Technology program in which students can get interns at places like CISCO. I am going to major in this with a concentration in Computer Networking and a minor in Business Administration. While I am getting this degree and interning, I plan to get certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCNP and CCDA.
This seems like a pretty good program, most of the students got "Co-op" positions at CISCO and are currently working in the I.T field.

It looks like you'll learn a lot in this program. I'm sure the networking guys here can give you advice on the networking certifications as that isn't my forte. Good luck!

Sylice Member Posts: 100Thanks, I just talked to the director of the program and he said a internship is required. So that would look good on my resume.

Pupil Member Posts: 168When post-secondary institutions state that you can get an internship at top companies like Cisco (this is in reality a marketing ploy), then it really means the top student(s) of the program may be able to apply for an internship with those companies (not even an interview is guaranteed), so wherever you decide to enroll, be the very best that no one ever was and you'll do fine.2015 Certification Goals: CCNA: Routing & Switching FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, CCNA: Security FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, Security+ COLOR=#ff0000]X[/COLOR
