Problem w/ EtherChannel in Packet Tracer

Packet Tracer only allows creation of up to 6 channel groups on anything but the layer 3 switches. I have a two layer 3 switches w/ 5 channel groups which are setup correctly. However, as soon as I create the vlans interfaces for inter-vlan routing, the vlan interfaces and the port-channel interfaces go down. Port-security is enabled on the access layer switches with violation shutdown, maximum 1 and running sh port-security interface fa0/X does show that they are in a state of secure-down. When I manually bring them down and up again, they instantly go down again. What could be the reason for this?
See screenshot of topology. Image shows the interfaces all being up prior to creating the vlan interfaces on both layer 3 switches.

Pupil Member Posts: 168strange development: one of the switches (W-S1) remains fine after the VLAN interfaces are created on W-L3S1 and W-L3S2, but the others instantly shut down their ports. The configurations are the exact same on all of them.2015 Certification Goals: CCNA: Routing & Switching FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, CCNA: Security FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, Security+ COLOR=#ff0000]X[/COLOR

Pupil Member Posts: 168I put Packet Tracer in simulation mode to try and find out what's going wrong. When a PAgP frame is sent from the layer 3 switches to the layer 2 switches, it says the following:
The receiving port is a trunk port, bu the receiving frame is an Ethernet frame. The switch drops the invalid frame.
The aggregated links between the two switches are trunking the same exact VLANs. What the heck?2015 Certification Goals: CCNA: Routing & Switching FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, CCNA: Security FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, Security+ COLOR=#ff0000]X[/COLOR -

I made it up. I pretend to be a network architect and design networks to practise concepts that I'm currently studying. Initially I intended to lab EIGRP + VRRP or GLBP only to discover that Packet Tracer doesn't even support those 2 protocols. What a bummer. Guess it's about time I migrated to GNS3.2015 Certification Goals: CCNA: Routing & Switching FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, CCNA: Security FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, Security+ COLOR=#ff0000]X[/COLOR -
Pupil Member Posts: 168I managed to get it working after a long day of frustration. I had to manually set speed & duplex mode to full on the affected ports, re-configure the port-channel groups, and set them to trunk the correct VLANs.2015 Certification Goals: CCNA: Routing & Switching FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, CCNA: Security FONT=courier new]X[/FONT, Security+ COLOR=#ff0000]X[/COLOR

Jon_Cisco Member Posts: 1,772 ■■■■■■■■□□Keep in mind that if this is for CCNA study you can keep it simple.
Packet tracer is limited in a lot of ways but it's great for it's main purpose of learning and troubleshooting beginning concepts.
I would move to GNS3 for routing for sure. I often worked in packet tracer and kept gns3 open to test commands that were not available in packet tracer.
