70 - 411, just passed

Just passed 70-411, and in my opinion, it was hard. I think I got slightly lucky in that I had to make educated guesses at quite a few questions. Passed though, so that's all that matters.

To pass this, as with all Microsoft exams, you HAVE to lab, lab, lab. No video series or book will be even nearly in depth as you need to be. I used TrainSignal (now Pluralsight) and a 70-411 book off Amazon. They both give you a good insight and Id defo start there, but on there own, in my opinion, they are not enough to pass. Get a VirtualBox or other VM set up and get dirty with the labs.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!

I am studying for this test now and hope to have it done by the end of October. I have heard the 2012's are seriously no joke in difficulty. I am still a firm believer that IT cert tests shouldnt be answering multiple choice questions that you could memorize out of a book or braindump. But a real skill test, give me a Console with a Lab setup and a list of things to configure and do in a desired amount of time and ill do it! I have been a Sys Admin for 5 years I do this stuff everyday but you cant help getting tripped up on the words they use and all the different possibilities it could be...enough ramble again Congrats man!

Yeah congrats! Doing my first run at the 70-411, first week of October. I agree lab lab and a bit more lab. Hoping to do my 70-412 end of October, I must be MAD.

I have already booked to write the 70-411 exam on 23rd of this Month, do you have any last minute pointers regarding the questions and topics I should focus on?

Well I failed my 70-411

Scored 640. I want to blame the noisy test center but maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind.

I'll take it again in two weeks.

The score is not that bad, you probably were just one or two questions away from passing.

Your should use that score report to see where you are weak and try to improve on it. All the best on your retake!!!

Failed 70-411 with a score of 600.Only thing i noticed is that one really has to have hands on experience otherwise its a waste of time and money.

I prefer the training guide, it covers the topics very well in my opinion, and I don't have any complaints about. You should also build a lab to get familiar with the interface. All the best!!!

Not specifically, but the training guide has these exercises at end of each chapter, these exercises give you instruction on how to configure things you were learning in that chapter, I also used the exercises in my lab as well they are helpful to get your hands on experience but I don't know if there is a book or videos that are devoted to setting up a lab.

Well as I have said I don't know if there is a book out there devoted to a lab setting but I do recommend the Training Guide Administering Windows Server 2012 R2 (MCSA) (Microsoft Press Training Guide): Orin Thomas: 9780735684690: Amazon.com: Books this is the training guide I also used for this exam but some people would recommend both the training guide and the Exam ref: 70-411 book.
