Need some opinions on NAS

I work for an MSP that supports small government, non-profit, and small businesses. We re-sell Intronis backup service which includes offsite backups along with local storage. When we sell offsite service we generally include local backups as well and generally use a Lenovo/EMC/Iomega NAS. Usually the ix2 or px4 models (2 or 4 bay models). We have been having numerous problems with these including issues with firmware, customer service, and extremely long wait times with RMA replacements. We are looking to go to another vendor for our NAS needs.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We were thinking of going with Buffalo but I have also seen that Synology offers a pretty good selection as well. Can anyone offer some suggestions on brand and/or models?

These are really only used for local backup storage so we don't need anything too fancy.

Thanks!

In my opinion, Synology is the way to go. I would suggest the DS412 :). It's a 4 bay NAS, and the DSM software is user friendly with it as well.

I would definitely go with Synology! I have a DS1512+ at home and I absolutely love it! It's been replaced by the DS1513+ now, so check that one out. You can get some pretty solid speeds from this device. I highly recommend it! I'm actually thinking about getting another one for a DR.

Yeah, I would recommend Synology, too. Never had a problem with mine. Once you have one, you have so many options to install software to do various tasks.

Thanks everyone. We are contacting Synology now to see if they will send us a unit to demo the features.
