Multiple sudoers under /etc, what does visudo point to?
JockVSJock
So I ran into this today at work. I had to give someone an account on the dev box, DBA type. They wanted root access, I said lets settle for sudo privilege first.
When I went to add the DBA into sudo, there are multiple sudoers files under /etc. Looks like all are difference file size along with time/date stamp. I wasn't expecting this at all.
My question is how do I know when using /usr/bin/visudo, that it is editing the correct file?

There are multiple files with the same exact name "sudoers"?

Sorry, should have put this in up front.
All of the files are renamed or closely named to sudoer. I'm not at work right now, so I am not able to post what I see.

Visudo should edit only the sudoers file.
