Multiple sudoers under /etc, what does visudo point to?

So I ran into this today at work. I had to give someone an account on the dev box, DBA type. They wanted root access, I said lets settle for sudo privilege first.
When I went to add the DBA into sudo, there are multiple sudoers files under /etc. Looks like all are difference file size along with time/date stamp. I wasn't expecting this at all.
My question is how do I know when using /usr/bin/visudo, that it is editing the correct file?

All of the files are renamed or closely named to sudoer. I'm not at work right now, so I am not able to post what I see.***Freedom of Speech, Just Watch What You Say*** Example, Beware of CompTIA Certs (Deleted From Google Cached)
