Career path question

I'm trying to set sort of a end goal for my career and wanted to know what certifications I should consider along the way to becoming a Linux administrator. I don't neccesarly want to get certifications just to get them but to also learn the material if it will make me smarter and better at my job. I plan on taking the Linux+ to get the LPIC and other certifications and possibly RedHat afterwards. Should I consider learning a little more Server 2012 or vmware related certifications along the way?
