Good day TE Members,

I just got a phone call from my manager that the tech for today at my work place didn't show up today and he wanted to know if I wanted to come in. However, myself and another tech had today off, and I stated on my contract that I am only available Monday to Saturday. Do i as a part time seasonal tech have the right to say no to a last minute schedule change? I worked 8 hours yesterday and will be working 8 hours by myself tomorrow.

Your "rights" are the same as a non-seasonal employee. However that doesn't mean that management won't see that as you not being a team player. It just depends on your rapport with the manager. If he is a good guy and understanding it won't matter. If he is a bottom line guy just looking to fill the time, he may "retaliate" by cutting your hours in the future. Temps/Seasonal workers get the shaft in a lot of regards.
