Calling all GNS3 gurus help.
Hey Guys. I am building my breakout switch like GNS3 and Renea M. from GNS3Vault states, but I have a windows 8.1 and Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E nic and it only lists vlan 101 or whatever vlan ID I put but I do not see how I can enable Dot1q trunking. CRAP!!!!!!!!!
I have everything I need and my laptop is pretty new Can I add virtual Nics does anyone know how?
In the GNS3 whitepaper I never saw where it says Dot1q on the eth0?he just added vlans on the GNS3 switch?
Can I buy a USB to NIC and have the USB/nic do the dot1q and create virtual nics that way I don't have 20 usb to nicswhich I don't want?

your NIC card must explicitly support dot1q tags. check out NewEgg or Amazon, but you'll be hard-pressed to find the feature on an USB - NIC. -

how do you config the nic card? I mean it doesn't explain do I give it an IP or what? that is my missing piece is how to config the nic card?
