How much warning does Microsoft give when it comes to retiring their exams?

Planning to begin study on 70-680 and 70-685 and was wondering how much notice Microsoft typically gives when it comes to exams being retired. Only inquiring because I have noticed the 680 has been out for something like 4 years now.

In the case of windows 7, it wont be discontinued anytime soon.

Any 'warnings' given my microsoft should be taken with a grain of salt as well. I rushed to get my MCITP:EA last summer because all the 2008 exams were to be retired July 31, 2013. Guess what. Its October 15, 2014 and you can still take them all (AFAIK).

So yeah, don't heed any of those warnings. I half think MS issues them just to get people to take the exams who were previously slacking or casual about it! If you're serious about taking 70-680 though, it really should only take you at most a few months of studying if you put time in daily.
