CCNP/CCDP vs. CCNP/CCNP DC
Cisc01
I just completed my CCNP and was wondering what you though about my next step. Should I work towards a CCDP (which means first getting my CCDA) or going for my CCNP Data Center (which means getting my CCNA DC)?
I've heard a CCNP/CCDP can look really good on a resume but I have also heard that with companies moving to the Nexus NX-OS platform, the CCNP Data Center will be the desired cert to have. And my interest lies in designing data centers.
The third option being that I get my CCNP Security, as I already have my CCNA Security.
Thoughts?

What do you do now? Usually the best bang for you buck is to get certified in what you have relevant experience with.

Currently I'm a network engineer handling issues with IOS, Cat-OS, and NX-OS for my company's MPLS, optical, frame, and ethernet topologies. In the past I have assisted in Data Center design and found that I enjoy the design side for data centers, especially as it applies to the Nexus line of switches. This led me to wonder which cert would best compliment my CCNP Route and Switch; a CCDP or CCNP Data Center. My ultimate goal is to become a data center architect.

Sounds like CCNP DC lines up with your experience and where you want to go so that would be my suggestion. I've never been a big fan of the design certs personally.

Data Center is a hot ticket right now so I would jump on as soon as you can but CCDA & CCDP are easy plus it's only 2 exam for 2 certs vs 6 exams for CCNA DC & CCNP DC
