70-290 vs 70-291 - difficulty?

Hi All.

I passed my 70-290 exam on the weekend, my study material was the Microsoft textbook, along with a lot of practice questions.

I have the textbook for 291 as well, and plan to do the same. Can anyone here who has written both comment on the difficulty of 291 in comparison to 290?

Havent done both so i cant help ya there, you have no certs you'll need to update that how come ya went straight into 290 how come ya never done 270??

I figured I would leave the easiest ones until last, id much rather study my ass off for the 291.

Not that the 270 is easy, just that I am confident I can pass it (with a bit of studying of course).

I have heard the 291 exam is brutal, so was just wanting an impression of the rigours of 290 vs 291.

In my opinion 70-291 is WAY harder than 70-290. Only b/c I had (still have) a hard time with a lot of DNS concepts. Reason being my experience with DNS is minimal as it's a real simple 1 zone AD integrated setup and there are RARELY any problems where I would have to mess around with it. But if you're real good with DNS and the such you should do fine, just don't underestimate it.

I agree with SRTMCSE, the 291 is way harder than 290. I'll recommend you do the 270 before 291, as some of the material in 270/290 is the same (NTFS permissions for example). Good luck

i did the 290 and will do the 291 soon...and yes, the 291 is definately alot harder.
290 is also easy because it overlaps alot with 270.
but then i expect 293 to be to the 291 as 290 is to 270, like overlapping and stuff, should make it easier.

70-291 is way harder than 70-290, definitely take the other guys advice and take 70-270 before 70-291. I have heard of people taking this test 4 times before they pass.

I have taken and passed 290 and 291 in the last 7 months.
Take 290 first, then 291.
There is no comparison really, 290 is tough and 291 is the BEAST.
With 291 there is about 40% more material, and it's quite dry.
290 took me 3 months, 291 took me 5 months.
291 is passable though, you really have to comitt, or be brilliant, or better still both.
