Software Tracking

I was curious how you folks keep track of software in your company. Specifically, how do you guys determine when an update is available for the applications you use on desktops? (Flash, Silverlight, etc) We currently use SCCM to push updates but I cannot think of a way to keep up to date on when newer versions become available aside from periodically checking.

We use SCCM with the shavlik plugin which handles third party apps like that. Our SCCM guy keeps track of update announcements, creating patches, etc.

Adobe, Microsoft, etc all have announcements of patches.
