CISSP work requirement and self employment

I have been self employed in the computer security field for the last 8 years in numerous computer security areas (4 of the 10 domains) . Can I put this down as 5 years of work experience?

Since it's in numerous security field domains and over 8 years I'm thinking it's fine but couldn't find the answer anywhere onthe main ISCC site.

Google wasn't much help in trying to find the answer. Has anyone been in my situation and put down self employment as work experience?

I can't imagine it being a problem because why would it matter whether it's working for someone else or being self employed if it's both in computer security but still not sure.

Hopefully someone can shine some light on this situation.

Thanks.

Find someone who will be endorsing your CISSP after you pass the exam and ask what they think of your work experience. It is that person who will be vetting your experience and vouching for you with their own credibility. You can also email your resume to the (ISC)2 and ask them too, but that may take a while to get an answer. Ultimately, only the (ISC)2's opinion matters in this matter.
