So quick background first. I have a total of 7 years of experience in the IT field. 4 years in the military do network setup/troubleshooting & integration. The other 3 years and the most relevant experience has been as tech in a NOC/IOC. There’s a 2 year gap in between where I worked for a cable provider as a home service tech and went to school full time and picked up some valuable soft skills that everyone’s raging about. I’m currently working as a tech in a NOC/IOC.
My questions:
1. I just passed my CCNA and am working on CCNP route. However, My real goal would be to go the CCDA->CCDP route. That would be my preference as a Career Path, but I’ve seen a lot of post/advice that recommend the CCNP path first is the way to go as it helps cement the theory’s covered in CCDA & CCDP. That makes sense to me, and I do believe that is the right move. My Question is; 1) Are there jobs for CCDA/CCDP’s? My searches on indeed don’t really show any CCDA/CCDP specific jobs. 2) What would be a good entry level position for a CCDA/CCDP where I would get the most hands on experience that coincides with those disciplines?
2. Any advice from a CCDA/CCDP/CCDAr who is currently working in a field where they are fully utilizing said disciplines.
TL|DR:
Are there any jobs for CCDA/CCDP/CCDAr’s?
What Jobs/Careers are more likely to fully utilize the CCDA/CCDP/CCDAr discipline the most?
Any advice from CCDA/CCDP/CCDAr who are actively working in a field that is utilizing said disciplines.
Thanks in advance for any advice given. Unfortunately, I don't have any mentors in the industry that I can collaborate with. Hoping to join a few clubs to hopefully change that.

networker050184 Mod Posts: 11,962 ModThere are certainly jobs out there for people to design networks, but in my experience the Cisco design certs aren't really something that are going to get you there. I never recommend anyone going after them unless they just want to. You'd be better off getting that CCNP (while actually learning the nuts and bolts of the protocols) and getting some experience operating and troubleshooting networks under your belt. That will go a lot farther in helping you get a role as an architect. Also branching out into other vendors is going to be helpful as well.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.

As networker said the only reason I am going for the CCDP is that it is one more exam to get it, but even when I search for roles of people who are sole architects they want them to have a CCNP or another vendor equivalent cert (depending on what equipment the location has)
