Passed it last Friday with a 952.
The test is straight forward. Just read the questions, and by process of elimination you should be able to pass the exam.
Read the Microsoft Self-Paced Training Kit
Did the Measure Up exams till I understood all questions, and why the answers were what they were.
To tell you the honest truth.... working with XP is the best way to prepare for these exams, i found the labs in the book to really shed A LOT of light on studying.
Things to study.
ICF
ICS
Security
IIS Differences between XP and 2K serv.
Permissions
Networking Basics
Installing XP is a HUGE part of it... you know indicated by the exam Title :P
Backups
System Performance
One thing i suggest.... really learn how Microsoft asks their questions. If anything understanding the question layouts can be a life saver. Like everyone says.. read the question first.. leave the " You're an administrator " paragraph out till last.
Most questions can be summed up Like this.
Environment paragraph.
Information paragraph.
Problem paragraph.
Resolution paragraph.
Examples of how most questions break down:
You are an administrator of 20 computers in a single AD domain.
People access files on a computer called Filesrv1.
After a reboot, a user is no longer able to connect to Filesrv1 by name, but by IP address.
Fix this problem, without rebooting the machine.
Practice taking exams online or viewing Microsoft style questions, and thats half the battle right there. They really try to throw you curveballs to throw you off your game. Keep on the ball, you know more then you give yourself credit for.... and simplification of their questions is whats going to help you through, and show them that wordy questions aren't going to stop you
