There is no standardization of titles, roles and job descriptions in the IT industry. What you do and have experience with is far more important than the job title is for the position.

^ that. Rule #1 is that titles mean nothing. A "help desk" tech could really be a systems administrator. An "Information Security Analyst" could be just a password reset monkey. Sr, jr, analyst, engineer, all could mean different things to different companies. Focus on the tasks assigned to each role and then you can compare apples to apples.

I agree, for the most part, titles and roles can vary too greatly.

I have been a System Administrator in many jobs, and sometimes the official title ranged from "Computer Specialist", to "Business Analyst". What I have done on my resume is put my actual job role with my official title, i.e., "System Administrator/Business Analyst", and then of course I list my responsibilities.

The only ones that look out of place there are Computer Operators, who often watch systems for errors, Field Technican, which often travel to sites to install/repair devices (often POS) and computer technician, typical computer repair title.

I'd apply for any that have any duties you are interested in and if you get interviewed make sure the job matches the job listings, it hasn't always for me.

Sys admin responsibilities titled a business analyst is very misleading. Business analyst's are often developers working on databases.
