Just applied to Capitol Technology University (Capitol College) for MSIA

Hey all,

I've been reading around online, including on the forums here and I really liked what I heard about the MSIA program from Capitol College. I found out my new employer will pay for me to pursue a MS degree so I figured I would apply to begin in the fall after finishing my MBA in March.

From what I have read the program is very technically concentrated with a lot of labs and hands on exercises using various tools and applications. This appeals to me greatly since I feel like I have already learned plenty of theory from studying for the CISSP, CISM, undergrad etc and I would like to get more hands on experience with labs and tools.

Is anyone currently enrolled in the program or graduated from it recently? Would love to hear about everyone's experience!

It's a good program. Your CISSP and other certs will give you a leg up but by no means will you be bored. True on the amount of labs and such that you'll need to or will become very comfortable technically while progressing through the program. From what i've seen there are really two extremes in that some of your classmates basically have minimal infosec experience and/or technical experience, meanwhile on the other end of the spectrum you'll have certified folks such as yourself and those who are very deep into their infosec careers with 5,10,15+ years experience in security conscious organizations. This can sometimes make things a bit tedious because half of the class will be struggling while the rest can adequately keep up.

Overall I like the direction they're trying to go into. The signup process was easy, good mix of classes.

Thanks for the feedback. How many classes are you taking at a time and how far into the program are you? I am going to try and get the IA-500 course waived based on my certs/experience etc.

Anyone else care to comment on this school and program?
