Product Support to DBA?.

Hi All!
Long time no post!
So I got lucky in 2014 and got a new Product Support job supporting SQL Server tools. I have been doing support for quite some time now (around a decade? damn how time flies!). I am at the point where I am looking for a different kind of stress, not brought about by idiot users and their even more clueless managers (not all users and managers are bad, but if you have been in support at some point in your life, you will understand).
Does anyone have any advice on moving from Product Support to a DBA role? Should I shoot more for a DB Developer role?
Are DBA roles still plentiful?
Any tips/recommendations/advice at all?
As you can see from my signature, I am doing (have done) the following:
[X] 98-364, [ ] 70-461, [ ] 70-462, [ ] 70-463, [ ] 70-464, [ ] 70-465
I have seen in other threads that Plural Sight, and Pinal Dave's website (sqlauthority.com) and he Joes to Pro's books are good. I have also seen Celko's (sp?) books listed too.
Anything else good to know/read/view?
As always, thanks for reading, and have a great New Year!
