Welcome and congrats. You need to pay fees and complete CE units. Make sure you read ECE Policy. There's always the option of getting bigger and better things and letting it expire
There are annual fees that you have to pay to maintain the credential and others like the CISSP.
Here are a few ways to obtain CPE's / ECE's:
-You can attend chapter meetings (ISSA, HTCIA, or ISC2).
-Attend a security conference.
-Obtain another certification. If you obtain one from EC Council, you receive 120 ECE's !!! Talk about being
partial!!! You don't really get a good ROI from most of the credentials, other than the ECE's it may be considered
a waste of time. I know that Cyberguypr would agree.
-Watch webinars. ISSA has some good ones. ISC2 may have some as well.
-Watch podcasts. Security Weekly, and Security Now are some ones that you may enjoy.

Looks like people use it as an entry level cert and move on.
It is your personal IPS to stop the attack.
