anyone know of a good usb to serial console cable? what is a good one to buy? where to buy it? need it for subcontract work, needs to be able to console into cisco routers/switches etc. and possibly other types/brands. any suggestions appreciated.

They are all about the same, the ones I have, I purchased on ebay for about $4 dollars each and have never had a problem with them.
Currently, there is over 4000 listings on ebay for USB to serial, some of them under $3 with free shipping.Current Lab: 4 C2950 WS, 1 C2950G EI, 3 1841, 2 2503, Various Modules, Parts and Pieces. Dell Power Edge 1850, Dell Power Edge 1950. -

Just make sure you find one that is supported to work with windows 7 64 bit if needed I had issues finding drivers on one that I had. -

I use about 12 of these in my current lab. You might need to get a 8 port USB 3.0 PCI-e x3 riser card like I did...

The keyspans we have at work can cause blue screen of death when you disconnect it from your laptop. On both windows and mac. Maybe once every 50 times.A.A.S. in Networking Technologies
