Free PGP Programs

Hi team,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any good 'free' PGP programs for encrypting files? I don't neccesarily need it for email ... what I essentially want to do is encrypt a file and put it on a FTP server and give the key to the downloading party.
I know www.pgp.com has a solution, but I was kind of hoping to get around having to pay for anything. If I must I will buy the solution, but thought I'd try here first.
Thank you in advance.
