Small question about after applying for jobs online

After I apply to a job, how long does it take until it is obvious that the employer/recruiter has moved on to another candidate or filled the position? I've read somewhere between 10-14 days if you don't get any response back from them.

It depends on the industry. I know for public sector (state, university, fed) it takes a very long time. Anywhere from 3 months to 1 year for initial contact. Longest is fed of course. For a regular private sector job I'd say if you haven't gotten a single call or email within 3 weeks, you probably aren't going to get contacted.

It depends. If the requirement is urgent and they didnt get any good hire, they may keep reposting the job. If they got a good hire, they will close the requirement soon. It all depends on the need of requirement, how many people they are planning to hire.
