Are you an incorporated IT contractor?

More and more recruiters have asked me if I'm incorporated. I'm planning to get incorporated, but wanted to see how it has helped others save money and/or land a contract.

Our laws are of course different, but I can imagine it would be similar to those in US at least.

I run as a sole proprietorship, not incorporated. The few times i"ve gotten this question though, they were more concerned with insurance than your actual corporate structure. Because of thta (and to protect my company and assets), I carry a million dollar small business policy covering my work against losses for my clients. Also make sure it's valid internationally, if you do a lot of contracting online. I do a decent amount of work for UK/AU/CA companies. The insurance itself I just got through the business section of same company that I use for home/car/life.
