Little Red Dot
martain
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can tell me why there is a little red dot periodically flashing on the sqlserver icon in the system tray.Im planning to try for the sql qualifications later but at the moment just know enough to do the day to day stuff and im sure the icon wasn't flashing before. Is it something to be concerned about? Any help would be well appreciacted!
Cheers.

That red dot is an indicator that the service manager is polling the server ---which means it's checking its status. There is an interval (5 seconds by default) which is set for polling. If the polling fails, alerts can be triggered to notify admins.
