Same Address on Multiple Interfaces
up2thetime
Hey,
Just wondering about configuring the same address on multiple interfaces. The Junos OS allows me to add 10.1.1.1/24 to em1.0, em2.0, and em3.0, however when I do a show route 10.1.1.0/24, only the em1.0 interface is displayed. Even though the address is also configured on em2.0 and em3.0 only em1.0 appears as the exit interface according to the routing table. Just wondering why this is. Does it pick the lowest interface?
Thanks!

Yep, it does pick the lowest interface and only applies the duplicate IP address to that interface to avoid a duplicate IP address situation.
