vmware training/education

I took on a new role recently as a system engineer and have been tasked with digging into a vmware role more and more (which I want). I have basic experience with administering esxi 5.5 like creating machines and basic performance trouble shooting. With this change I need to get more in depth knowledge like optimizing what is here for performance, upgrading a 5.0 environment to 5.5 or 6, and becoming the point person for the vmware environment.
What are some of the best places to start learning? Books, videos, cert? Also I am doing the training out of pocket so as much as I would love to go to a 5 day bootcamp that is not in my budget right now.

David Davis video series on what used to be Trainsignal is good. The 1 from CBTNugget is ok as well.
