Anybody know if there is a way to take the tenable certifications without doing it through your employer? Or at least do there on demand training without being employer sponsored? I am more concerned with learning the software as I already have a great deal of security knowledge, just lack hands on with popular vulnerability scanners. Would love to be able to claim to be proficient in Nessus.

The only way I know of is to take the Tenable training.

I just started using Nessus, didn't realize they had certifications. They're only good for two years though. That's okay.
