LPIC vs Comptia
sbuckland
Hello, I have heard that the LPIC 101 & 102 are the exact same tests as Comptia LX0-101 & LX0-102. Can anyone shed light on this. I am using CBT Nuggets. The instructor keeps talking about LPIC and I want to make sure I am not wasting my time. I noticed that CBT and Labsim discuss different things.

They are the same exact exam.
Just make sure you sign up for and take the CompTIA Linux+. If you pass the Linux+ you automatically get the LPIC-1 as well. If you take the LPIC-1 you do not get the Linux+.
The CBT Nuggets for Linux+ is very good - especially for the 2nd exam.

To re- iterate what DoubleNN said, yes they are. LPIC prepares the exam questions, maintains database of certificate holders, etc. That's why CompTIA lists Linux+ as "powered by LPI".
As witnessed by some other forum members, Linux+ is lifetime, it doesn't expire. Whereas LPIC-1 expires after 5 years. Mine is about to expire in a few days, actually. So if I was deciding which of those two, I'd go for L+.

Dears what now
So if I pass Linux+ I will get LPI-1? But if pass LPI-1 , I will not get Linux+ Certificate?

Same exam. Same questions.
Register on the LPIC web site. Take the Linux+. Then you an register on another site for a 3rd cert as well. After passing 2 tests (Linux+ is 2 exams) you'll have 3 certs. If you take the LPIC, altho it's the same exam, you'll only end up w/ 1 exam.
