Hey ghaouf - no MCSA Security is 7 exams as stated on your link.

4 core - 1 elective and 2 security, with Sec+ being an option for one of the security electives.

Great thing to know, can save myself some cash now.

I might become a MCSE, but not sure what I want to go into yet, maybe when 2000 isn't the standard. It's getting old and don't want to study hard for tests and spend money on certs that will be obsolete before I need to hit the job market mid next year.

Have 10 months before school is over and by then maybe I can get MCSE with server 2003? or that OS code named "longhorn" who knows, maybe by then we wont be using 32 bit CPU's...imagine that!

At any rate THANKS for the info, I wouldv'e taken an extra test.

That's the path I'm taking. I'm going 70-270, 70-214, 70-215, 70-216, 70-217, and 70-220. I am using my Security+ as my other elective. I've already sent my CompTIA info over to Microsoft so my CompTIA credentials can be added to my MCP account.

I thought it was pretty hard, but I have no work experience icon_cry.gif . I spent 2 - 3 hours each day for 2 weeks just studying. This was barely enough for me to pass. I think my main problem was the book I had, which was the Exam Cram 2 book. You should find yourself more of a reference type book, because 400 pages won't cut it. Be sure to find a lot of different sources, because I really needed some kind of text book. Also, utilize Sans.org, because they have pretty much everything you'll need to know about IT security.

I didn't only use Exam Cram. It was my only book. I read about 1000 pages of stuff online and other resources. What I meant was that I needed another book, something with more meat. I wouldn't take this test lightly, as it is no walk in the park. Not only is the test harder, but the passing score is higher (About 85%). Oh, and the Tcat PDF that I read was terrible, but I think it was the first edition. Just read a lot and you should pass.

CompTIA Security+ certification satisfies both the MCSE elective requirement and an MCSE: Security specialization requirement.
