EnCE / Forensic questions

I have been out of forensics for about a year and half. I have used a lot of forensic tools, but now I am in a security support role and I am looking to get back into a forensic / incident response roll. When I was in my last role we were using Encase v6, we had v7 and most people hated it, including myself.. Anyways, now that I don't have access to either version to use it for studying, is there a preferred open source forensic tool kit out there that I can practice on for the test?
For now I am just using a book to just re-familiarize myself with EnCase again.
