@UnixGuy: Yes and no. I have a good handle on the methodology and theory behind pen testing. SANS is excellent. You learn from some of the brightest minds in INFOSEC, but I didn't get the actual experience of attacking an network environment. That is why I'm taking the eLearnSecurity courses. I also have the long term goal of many on this thread of tackling the OSCP.
How about Google Drive? It does make a good collaborative tool. We could share notes through that. I agree that we're unlikely to be chatting real time all that often.
So forgive me for not seeing it as I was reading through the posts, but do you get the CEH cert at the end of all of this?
I also received an ad about the CEH cert from e-learning, and was interested, but skeptical. Have any of you guys done it? If so, how was it? (and forgive me if this was already mentioned earlier....)
First weekend Fail, spent it watching tv shows and out with friends - I need some discipline. I try and study at work. Still doing the very first few PDFs, background stuff
@Remedy: before giving up on technical side, I think this might be an area worth considering (pentesting/forencis/IR), better than SOCs
Passed the exam early this afternoon. It was a lot of fun.
@UnixGuy: I find that I can't have a dedicated Linux machine. What I do is have a VM with Kali on it. I take all my notes on my Mac and do all the Pen Testing on the VM. The beauty is that if I break something I can just blow away the VM and start again. I had planned to create a master VM that I could revert to, but I not never got around it.

Honestly, if you read the PDFs, do the labs, and write good notes you should succeed. The only other thing I can say is to have a plan going into the exam about how you will approach it.
VMware Fusion is a good choice. I use the Pro version (full network options). I'm still miffed VMware hasn't created a Mac version of Workstation. I suppose I could use Fusion to run Workstation in Unity mode, but I'd prefer to run it natively and preserve resources.
Have: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, eJPT, GCIA, GSEC, CCSP, CCSK, AWS CSAA, AWS CCP, OCI Foundations Associate, ITIL-F, MS Cyber Security - USF, BSBA - UF, MSISA - WGU Currently Working On: Python, OSCP Prep Next Up: OSCP Studying: Code Academy (Python), Bash Scripting, Virtual Hacking Lab Coursework
Update: I finished skimming through all the slides. I haven't done a single lab nor viewed a single video. I'm kind of slacking and getting my personal life and priorities in order - it's not an excuse, this is just my current situation.
Next Steps:
1)Setup Kali Linux machine. I'll either set it up as a VM on my Mac or just install on my old laptop and play with it.
2) Go through the slides again (quickly), stopping at each video, viewing each video slowly and labbing the hell out of each video module. If I'm learning this, might as well learn it properly.
I can claim it on tax, so I think I'll buy the license. Enjoying the course so far!! Did the wireshark stuff, and played around a bit with WireShark. I'm going through the slides quickly now and stopping at each lab....Burp Suite is next.

@Levithan: As far as I know, this course has nothing to do with the CEH exam.

aw man, now I want this
CWTS, then WireShark
Come to the dark-side. We have cookies
After I signup for this and complete it. I will also sign up for the PND course as well.

this is what I would probably do
CWTS, then WireShark
But...I'm studying at work!! Reading through the slides and learning a lot.
I'll install Kali Linux on my home laptop and start labbing. I just want to go through the slides quickly before I do practical work.
Enjoying it so far!

Any tips on studying for and passing the exam?

Congrats
What software do you use on MAC to run VM?

eJPT exam must be earned and nailed.
So I setup Kali on an old PC which works 100 times better than on a VM.
Excellent course so far!
