Can cert scores be discovered by employers?

I'm taking an info security class right now in preparation for Security+. In the book it goes into how employers should screen candidates for IS positions by doing a background check. Under the objectives for background check it lists:

* Proof of college degrees obtained, GPA
* Proof of professional certifications, passing score
* Etc

I'm thinking that only a pass or fail can be discovered in a background check on certs, not the actual score??

    With a lot of the newer privacy laws, most background checks will only get that you passed the cert test, that you graduated from college, etc. Universities are more and more unlikely to give out any more information than that you graduated. There have been a number of law suits about giving out GPA, so it is unlikely that an employer can get that.

    Maybe because the screening process for potential IS candidates is more in depth, considering it's security, they ask for permission by having the candidate sign something allowing that info to be released. It also mentions obtaining credit scores if necessary.

    But can they get cert scores is what I'm wondering, if so that could potentially rule out some people for jobs, just like GPA can.

    Not that anyone can prove it though...

    They might actually ask for you official score report (I know I usually do). Which is why you should keep them.

    oops...I am missing about 50 or so..haha...but I can get to most on line.

    Now why do you ask for the score report? If you have done good enough to get the cert....shouldn't that be good enough? If you have two people with the same cert shouldn't something else besides the score be the deciding factor? Just curious....

    This is why ISC2 doesn't post score reports for the people that pass.

    Don't see why score should matter with certs. I remember MS stopped putting score reports on there exam sheets and only gave you pass or fail. I didn't think that was a good idea because if you fail you want to know how much by and if you pass it is nice to know what areas you excelled at or didn't do well at.

    However if the benchmark set for MS or Cisco or whatever says your good enough to pass then thats the end of the storey. You passed!
