All,
I have found a new opportunity and as a result, am leaving a position vacant at my current (soon to be previous) employer.
If anyone is interested in this opportunity, please send me a private message and we can talk. It is located in southern New Jersey, not far from several of the bridges crossing into Philadelphia.
What you'll do:
I started just doing the basics - fixing printers, PCs, removing viruses, etc. However, it's a small department supporting 3 offices and 300 PCs, so the opportunities to deploy GPOs, spin up new servers, make network diagrams, etc. came up relatively quickly. This is a VMware environment with 50+ servers and two enterprise SANs. There's probably close to 50-60 switches, mostly Cisco but with some HPs mixed in (soon to be phased out hopefully). It took over a year and a few Cisco certifications before I was trusted to work with the network equipment, but if you are motivated and will cert up (the company will reimburse, I convinced them to during my time here) I expect you will eventually get the chance to do the same.
The pay is not the best, but PTO is decent and it's a great group of people to work with.
Who might be interested:
Recent college graduates. I started out a few days after graduating. Also, someone who has been stuck at the help desk and wants more may be interested as well. The important thing is to be ambitious and motivated and strive for more. The company will let you grow, so if you are interested in only doing level 1 tasks, this isn't for you. Likewise, you aren't expected to come in and start making changes to firewalls or switches either (if you are already at that level, the pay grade is likely too low).
I gained 3 Cisco certs and the Sec+ while here. I gained exposure in levels 1-3 desktop support, network diagramming, switching/routing/firewall configuration, and some VMware. I really appreciate everything the company has done for me and the opportunity, as I started with zero experience and had a lot to learn.
If you are local and interested, message me with some information about you and salary expectations and we can go from there. I am NOT the hiring manager or in a position to tell you you would definitely get the job, but I will put in a good word and forward your resume to the appropriate person if you seem like you would be a good fit.
Thanks,
Adam

Proverbs 6:6-11Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard?
When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep, So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler And your need like an armed man.
