keenon Member Posts: 1,922 ■■■■□□□□□□well i see this has gotten interesting... so i'll chime in
those jobs posted are basically for a company hoping to get someone down on their luck or get someone that doesn't know any better..in short
hopefully this was a major typo that someone will correct
as far as th economics part of this.. the US was built off of free and exploited (greatly under paid to equal counter parts) labor.. this posting is another example of this..
race will always plays a part in everything here.. hopefully well get to keep all the laws that require equal fairness that will continue until all of the idiot beliefs die off and people come to understand that we all live here and all are capable of great things dispite old stereotypes that no longer apply.. and skin color means nothing but the person that can do the best job
i'm emailing them now to find out the brain damages
here is the questions i asked**************************************
why is the job paying mininum wage for such a highly skilled worker?
why would anyone apply for this when working at Mcdonalds seems a far greater paying position?Become the stainless steel sharp knife in a drawer full of rusty spoons -

If you're netteaser, forget this low salary for college graduates and IT pros thing. You hurt the pros'self-esteem when you do that. Noone will believe you. Post a link to the job description and I will believe you.
If you're not, then I still believe you know netteaser in some way. Bye
Best regards,
I was thinking the exact same thing.
I completely agree with both of you!!!
Haha, this is the same company that I was working for before I got my new job. I told you guys that this guy was paying low... That email address is from his wife which is the office manager. If you want to talk directly to the owner/supervisor try this email address ::: jeffs@twin.net
They still have the tech with a BS degree who is getting paid 7-8 hr. Email him and post us what he tells you
I am glad that finally you guys can see that I wasnt making up my experience working with this company... -

netteaser Member Posts: 198While I was there I was making 8.50/hr. So he will probably raise it up to atleast 8 instead of 5.50
We just have to wait and see what the company emails back. -
netteaser Member Posts: 198I still have the email addresses of the 2 employees that work currently with the same comapany. If anyone is interested to find out really how much this company pays you can send them an email and ask the directly.

Saying that I have absolutly no experience is rather shortcomb of you. Considering I have many more certifications, specially dealing in networking then you. Now I dont know your plans for the future, But you are correct about one thing. After looking at the job market, and the potential it has to grow, I have decided not to go into IT. I am now going into Bioinformatics/Computer engineering.
Saying I am lacking professionalism is rather ignorant of you also. Considering you're the one that is continuously trying to belittle my opinions and continue with your personal attacks. I have not said anything up to this point, because I am not hear to fight with kids about unreasonable opinions. I am simply stating, people should expand out of the basic IT field and explore into other facets of computing, specially the more advanced fields. If anything, this could only help someone in the near future, because of the flooded IT Market.
I am sorry you feel this way towards me, but I think it is time you grow up and open your mind towards other ideas rather then your own "local" view.
Your certifications mean nothing without the experience of applied knowledge, which is something you’ve yet to learn. Anyone can study for a test and pass it, but applying it practically separates the qualified from the lesser. Based on your previous comments and lack of addressing the real question clearly demonstrates that you’re still within your formative years, thank you for pointing this out to us once again.
It’s not personal at all; you’ve gotten yourself into this situation with your comments. You’ve been called on many threads here, I'm surprised you haven’t taken the hint. How about looking back at some of your old posts, think about the things you said, and look at the responses. Then take the advice of referencing some of your comments in the future. Is that too much to ask? Then come back and post resourceful, constructive comments like the rest of us. -

netteaser Member Posts: 198I know that we need experience to get the better jobs because I went through this situation allready and thats how I got this new job that I have now. But when employers take advantage in paying a low money is there anything we can do about it? I read the job announcement and he is asking for 5 years experience and wants cisco and server experience for 7.00/hr????

Don't apply for the job. Or, if you already working there, move on! Do what you have to do to remove yourself from that situation. (study, go to school, get experience, get more experience, get certs)....If you do that, the only time that you will even pay attention to jobs like this are in forum posts.
Long story short.....If you don't like the situation you are in, do something about it. Suck it up and drive, troop! .....haha..sorry, that was the X - SGT coming out in me.

You dont seem like a smart cookie, so let me explain. You're saying im negative and biased, which is based on relativity. To me, I am being positive towards being more open minded with career options. You're saying im negative because im advising ppl to look beyond networking/IT etc.
I think kids need to look beyond the trivial computing matters. Our country is in high demand for these advanced computing jobs, and because of highschool education and people like you, they are not being filled. This will eventually catch up with us, and we will not be the tech leader we once were. This worries me, because I am sure there are hundreds of people who could make a difference in computing advances, but because people like you are limiting them, they will never reach their full potential. Crucify me for trying to expand peoples horizons.
I honestly do not care what you think. People like you are a joke on this forum, making false statements based on what you think. If you think I have no experience to show for my certifications you are out of your mind. I have worked in many areas of IT, including programming and networking. I do think it is a fun job, but I wanted to expand and be on the cutting edge of technology. As I have said, I realize most the people here are working in IT, but that is not going to stop me from posting my opinion. If you can not handle someones opinion then be mature and just dont post. You are entitled to your opinion, and as open minded as I am, I would love to hear it. But what I do not like is your personal attacks on me for my opinons. That just shows how pathetically ignorant you are to the rest of the world. Everyone is different based off experiences they have had in their life. So ofcourse, I do not expect me and you to agree on everything.
It is not my fault that you're not educated. Let these people have the option of choosing what they want to do, instead of you personally attacking me for wanting them to expand their career options, rather then just lock in at an IT job, that they will make pennies at. -

I think this is a very good point about looking for mexicans. If the employer is looking for mexicans to pay substandard wages is not because of race, this is about their previous salary. Simple economy. -

If someone were ambitious they could go back and find all of those previous posts and point out the obvious in them as well, however that task would be overwhelming and require too much space on this server.
I’m not personally attacking this individual, I’m merely pointing out obvious character traits that don’t belong on this forum, including his superiority complex and malignant narcissistic personality. It isn’t fair to other members who post questions on this forum to only be replied with comments like…raross wrote:in a CS degree you have a class where you learn basically everything and beyond everything about networking. You learn more in that one ABET accredited class then a networker with a 2 year degreeraross wrote:From my experience the people who take online classes and ofcourse this is a generalization but are extremely lazy. That is why they are taking the online classes instead of the real thing.
And definitely not qualified to make such an absurd statement as this…raross wrote:Networking is a trivial matter no matter how big it gets. The model stays the same, just expands. The art of the network is the real machine, the algorithms etc is the hard part. But that is way beyond a networkers abstration.
There are many more but there’s no sense in going that far. As stated before, the words speak for themselves. His argument is no longer relevant. -

drainey Member Posts: 261That pay rate is crazy, but stranger things have happened. As for pay rates is all depends on where you live and where you work. I work for an AG manufacturer in KS and I get just under 15/hr to do everything pc related, that includes networking, telecom, servers, wireless, desktop support, you name it. Over at the hospital where my wife works they get 45k/yr starting as a network admin doing only network related stuff. They have a seperate Help Desk and Application depts. However, I started at the hospital weekend, nights on the helpdesk part-time and then got this job and I deal with about 1/10 the political crap they I had to deal with at the hospital and the I can actually say I like my job both what I do and where I do it. That in itself is worth alot if you ask me. My wife makes 60k/yr as a CPA at the hospital and hates her job.The irony truly is strange that you're the only one you can change. -- Anthony Gomes

Humper Member Posts: 647I am still in college on a coop work term and I'm being paid $16/hr. There is alot of money to be made in the networking field. Most graduates from my school start off making 50-60k / year and most companies will give sign up bonuses. Sr. network analysts where I work are making anywhere from 80-90k / year...Not bad cash at all.Now working full time!

That's hysterical. I just posted about a similarly bad paying job, some of these companies are crazy. -

dagger1x Member Posts: 55 ■■□□□□□□□□We got a couple of ISPs around here that pay $7 and hour, sometimes less, for pc and network techs. Alot of the college students in the tech programs take the jobs because they can (living with parents), and for experience. I wish I could afford to but I have a family so I continue driving a bus as my potential IT career waits on the back burner. I live in a rural area and a decent IT job comes up about once every 2 or 3 months and these kids or other people with experience get the jobs.
Heres a hiring tactic they use to get people to work for nothing. Ive interviewed twice at this company. Couldnt figure out why they didnt want to hire me, seemed like a perfect fit for me and I was willing to make the adjustment to take a lower wage for the experience (I have rental properties and other income). After the second interview and never hearing from them I thought what a slipshod operation this is and decided I was probably lucky that I didnt get hired. A few months later Im talking to a friend who was hired. He said not only did they pay him a measely $7 an hour but they tried to beat him out of the two weeks pay he had coming (he said forget this after two weeks) . Then he said they tried to beat him out of his 2 weeks pay and remembered something I had heard in these interviews. "hey why dont ya come on board, work for a couple weeks to a month and we'll see if its a good match". Well after this guy left they never sent him his check for the two weeks he was there. After he hassled them for awhile they sent a check for 1 week. He had to badger the sh1t out of them to get that seconds week pay. Thats what they do is hire you on somekind of agreement that its a "trial" period and then when you leave or they decide they dont want ya they try to beat ya out of the pay they owe ya. The people who stick are the kids who dont know what their worth , have low self esteem or are desperate for experience that they will take any and all amounts of crap to work for the guy. Anyone with real world experience that doenst get lured into their little ploy (me) is never called back.
So the guy has a continuous turnover on his PC bench at his 3 ISP locations of Highschool and college kids that can afford to work for very little or not very long for nothing. Theres no competition for IT labor in this market so the guy can get away with this and basically runs his benches for slave wages.
