I have worked in IT for 16 years and am at a crossroads. I live in the UK and I am 46.
I know what IT jobs I like and dislike so I am wondering what path to follow.
I enjoyed windows 7 deployment/migration, AS400 operator and IT Technician.
I haven't enjoyed service desk roles.
Basically I don't want to be in a call centre answering the phone all day and I enjoy visiting people at their desk to solve issues. I guess there has to be some kind of phone work but I find it all too regimented ie you can't have your break now, you cant' go to the loo now, you must answer the phone in a certain way blah blah blah.
I have COMPTIA A+ qualifications and wondering what jobs I should be applying for.

bpenn Member Posts: 499You would enjoy what I do. I am, basically, a JOAT classified as "Desktop Support III." My phone calls are kept to a minimum and I do most of my work at the client's desk/using remote tools. Considering how you have 16 years, you could probably swing a service desk manager - type role if you have commensurate experience in that field."If your dreams dont scare you - they ain't big enough" - Life of Dillon
