Transitioning To IT Career

Hello! I am looking to start a career in IT early 2017 and I am trying to get a head start to ease the transitioning process.
I am currently in the military in a technical, but non-IT job, so I do not have work experience with computers. However, I will have my BS in Computer Network Security as well as a few certifications. Currently, I hold A+ and Net+ with Sec+ in the near future. I have been taking some Cisco classes for my degree and am planning to at least get my CCNA. I know this won't mean much without experience. Does anyone have any tips for getting my foot in the door, or getting some experience else wise? Since it is a little down the road, does anyone recommend a training path to best set me up? Thanks in advanced!
