First post!
Well... like the title says. I started my first IT related job this past week, Information Technology Specialist, and so far its been going smoothly. It's pretty low on he totem pole both requirement wise and pay wise but it's a start. My experience is limited to building my own PC and some tinkering at other jobs but I'm glad to be an underpaid help desk worker than an underpaid accountant.
IT has always been an interest of mine but I shamefully never researched as deep as I should have but I'm setting out to change that now. I'm currently watching Messer's A+ videos and have bought Meyers book and Exam Cram. I'm hoping to get my A+ knocked out fairly quickly so I can move on to my Net+ and Sec+. I'm also looking to start up school once I get settled in to this job. I've been looking into WGU once I get some certs under my belt.
This forum has helped me a lot since I first applied for this job so I wanted to say thanks and to beg for more advice! I'd really like to make this a step towards a career so if anyone has any words of wisdom or advice on classes or certs that would be awesome.
